FAQ’s – Therapy & Supervision
Quick answers to common questions about sessions, insurance, confidentiality, and more.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment easily through our client portal (Zanda), where you can view clinician availability, schedule sessions, and make secure payments.
If you prefer, you can also get in touch directly by completing the form on our Contact page or by emailing us at thelightsidepractice@protonmail.com. We’ll be happy to assist you with booking.
Please note: When booking an appointment, you are agreeing to the practice Terms and Conditions. Please ensure you read these carefully before making a booking. You can read these in full when booking via the client portal or on our website.
How much do sessions cost?
We are able to accept self-funding clients and funding from some private health insurers.
- Initial Telephone Consultation: 15 minutes – Free
- Psychological Assessment: £130 per 50 minutes
- Therapy Session: £130 per 50 minutes
- Supervision: £130 per 60 minutes (or £75 for 30 minutes) for individuals. For group supervision please enquire. Cost is dependent on group size.
We work with many commonly known insurance companies including AXA, Bupa, Aviva, WPA & Healix.
If you’d like to use your private health insurance to cover your therapy sessions, here are a few steps to make the process smooth:
- Check with your insurer that your plan includes psychological therapy and how many sessions are covered.
- Ask whether you’ll need to pay any excess. If an excess applies, this will need to be paid in full before your therapy can begin.
- Before your first appointment, please share your policy number and authorisation code so we can process your claim.
We’re happy to answer any questions and guide you through the process if you need support.
Is your insurer not on the list? Drop us an email with your insurance information and we’ll be in touch shortly.
Where do sessions take place?
We offer online or telephone sessions, whichever is your preference. Online sessions will take place on Zoom. Your therapist will send you a link and password to join your appointment prior to your session time. You may need to download Zoom ahead of the session.
How does confidentiality work?
You can trust that everything you discuss in therapy will be kept confidential. All therapists working with the practice - whether clinical or counselling psychologists, psychotherapists, or counsellors—are required to engage in professional supervision to ensure they are practising safely and effectively. Your therapist may discuss aspects of your sessions with their supervisor, but they will never share identifying details (such as your full name) during this process.
If your therapist has concerns about your safety or the safety of another person, they may be legally or ethically required to share relevant information with appropriate services in order to protect you or others.
You can find full details about how your information is stored and handled, in accordance with GDPR requirements, in the practice privacy statement. Prior to booking an appointment, you must agree to the therapy terms and conditions, which include this privacy information.
What happens if I have to cancel a session?
Please provide 48 hours notice if you need to cancel a session. In instances where less than 48 hours notice is given, you will be liable for the full cost of the session.
Please note, if you’re using your health insurance to cover the cost of sessions, any cancellation fees will still be your personal responsibility, as these are not covered by your insurer.
How many sessions do you offer?
We tend not to limit sessions to a particular number as we want to tailor the therapy to what you are looking for. During the first session we will talk to you about your goals and aims for therapy and may agree an initial set of sessions.
However, if you are using private health insurance to access therapy, the number of sessions you can attend will depend on the level of cover included in your plan or policy.
When are sessions available?
Sessions are typically available throughout the week, daytime and evenings.
Each clinicians availability is available to see on our online booking portal.
Alternatively, head to the contact page to get in touch if you have any questions about availability.
What qualifications do your Therapists have?
It is not widely known that titles such as "therapist" and "psychologist" are not protected, meaning anyone can use them regardless of their qualifications. In contrast, titles like Clinical Psychologist and Counselling Psychologist are protected, and may only be used by individuals who have completed accredited, extensive training and meet strict professional standards.
All therapists working with the Light Side Practice are required to be registered with the appropriate professional body for their qualification, such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures that, in the unlikely event you are dissatisfied with the service you receive, you can raise your concerns with the relevant regulatory organisation.
You can check the HCPC register here to ensure a psychologist is appropriately qualified and legally permitted to use these titles.
FAQ’s – Workplace Wellbeing
Quick answers to common questions about our Workplace Wellbeing services.
Who delivers your services and what do you offer?
All our workplace wellbeing services are delivered by qualified clinical psychologists. Everything we provide is evidence-based and tailor our offerings to your organisation’s needs, culture, and goals.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
We offer in-person or virtual sessions depending on what works best for your team.
How long are your sessions?
Workshops typically run from 60 minutes to half-day or full-day formats. Coaching/consultancy sessions are usually 50–60 minutes.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. All coaching conversations are confidential and follow professional ethical standards.
For team workshops and group sessions, while the content we deliver is structured, any reflections, discussions, or personal experiences shared by participants remain confidential and are not reported back to the organisation. This helps create a safe, trusting environment where people can engage openly. Any exceptions to this will be explicitly agreed in advance with the organisation and clearly confirmed with all participants before the session begins.
How do we know which service is right for us?
We offer a free initial consultation to understand your goals and recommend the most suitable approach.
What are your fees?
Fees vary depending on the format, duration, and level of customisation. We provide a clear proposal and quote after an initial conversation.
Do you support ongoing or long-term programs?
Yes. We offer recurring workshops, coaching packages, and longer-term wellbeing programs for organisations seeking sustained impact.
How do we get in touch?
Get in touch with us via our website or email us on thelightsidepractice@protonmail.com, and we’ll arrange a brief call to discuss your needs.
