About Remember Rufus
You don’t have to face this alone.
Losing a baby can turn your world upside down. Alongside the grief, many parents live with shock, flashbacks, anxiety or a numbness that is hard to put into words.
The support we are offering in partnership with Remember Rufus is for anyone who has experienced miscarriage, TFMR (termination for medical reasons), stillbirth or neonatal loss. Mothers, fathers, birthing parents and partners are all welcome. The support is on offer to anyone six weeks or more after their loss.
Making Sense of Grief and Trauma After Baby Loss Online Workshop
A two hour online workshop led by two clinical psychologists. It explores what grief and trauma can look like after baby loss and practical ways to cope. There will be gentle, optional opportunities to connect with others who understand.
Cameras are optional and you will never be asked to share your story. You can take part simply by listening.
Date: Friday 4th December
Time: 13:30 to 15:30
Where: Online via Zoom
Cost: Free
Places in the workshop are limited, so we can't guarantee everyone a space. We will be running the workshop again in Spring 2027.

Funded Trauma Therapy
For some parents, memories of what happened continue to feel stuck: intrusive images, avoiding reminders, panic or numbness that gets in the way of daily life. In partnership with Remember Rufus, we are able to fund a small number of places for individual trauma therapy, including EMDR, with our specialist clinicians.
EMDR is a well researched therapy that helps the brain process memories that feel stuck, so they can be remembered without feeling as if they are happening now. It does not take away your love or your memories of your baby.
How places are offered: places are offered on a first come, first served basis. When you register your interest, we'll arrange a brief 15 minute call to talk about what you're looking for and make sure the therapy is suitable for you right now. If it isn't the right fit, or places have been filled, we will let you know other options for support.
Each funded place includes 10-12 sessions of therapy.

FAQ’s
Workshop
Will I have to talk about my loss?
No. We want the workshop to feel like a safe space. It will include information that we hope helps you make sense of grief, and a space to feel safe and held with your experiences. We won't ask anyone in the group to share details of what happened.
Can my partner come too?
Yes, partners are very welcome. We just ask that you each register individually so we can keep an eye on numbers.
What happens to my information?
Everything you share is kept confidential and stored securely by The Light Side. We would only share information if we were seriously worried about your safety or someone else's, and we would talk to you first wherever possible. You can find out more about our terms and conditions and privacy policy here.
Individual Therapy
Who is eligible for funded one to one therapy?
Funded places are very limited, so we want to make sure they reach people who have no other way to access therapy, at a time when trauma focused work is likely to help. Funded places are open to people who:
have experienced pregnancy or baby loss, at any gestation or age
live in the UK
experienced their loss at least six weeks ago. In line with NICE guidance, which recommends a period of watchful waiting in the first weeks after a traumatic experience, we don't begin trauma therapy sooner than this
are not currently in therapy, and haven't had therapy in the last six months, so that any previous work has had time to settle
don't have access to health insurance or other funded therapy that covers psychological support
During your call we'll also check that trauma focused therapy feels right for you at the moment. If you're currently in crisis, or are dependent on alcohol or drugs, this kind of therapy may not be the safest fit just now. If so, we'll help signpost you to support that is.
If you have health insurance that covers therapy, we can't offer a funded place, but you can still see us through your policy. We work with a number of health insurance providers.
How do I enquire about funded one to one therapy?
Please get in touch through our contact form or email contact@thelightside.org.uk. If spaces are available, we'll arrange a brief 15 minute call to talk through the practicalities and whether we're able to offer you support. Please bear in mind that funded places are very limited, so we can't guarantee availability.
If you have any other questions about the support on offer, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
